Houston, Texas, June 22, 2005 – Canadian Football League action carried nationally by the America One Television Network during the 2005 season will feature 269 players from all the major U.S. college conferences, providing viewers with non-stop excitement from the men of summer. The final team rosters announced last weekend include 25 players from the SEC, 23 players from MAC, 21 players form the Big 10 and 21 players from Conference USA. Other college conferences with more ten or more players on active CFL rosters include the ACC, Atlantic 10, Big 12, Big East, Big Sky, Mountain West, PAC 12 and SWAC. Canadian football has a long relationship with top U.S. collegiate athletes, as hundreds of U.S. players are included on the nine Canadian teams’ rosters each year. For the 2005 season, 73% of all active roster members, announced June 18, started their careers at American colleges. In the past, such top U.S. football athletes as Doug Flutie, Warren Moon, Jeff Garcia and others played in the CFL before joining NFL franchises. Mary Levy and Bud Grant also coached CFL teams before moving to the NFL. CFL regular season activity begins today and continues through the Grey Cup Championship game on November 27. America One will carry three to four regular season games live each week, followed the playoffs and Grey Cup. “We are very pleased to be working with America One to bring the excitement of CFL Football to sports fans in this region," said CFL Commissioner Tom Wright. “Our game not only offers viewers the opportunity to follow some of their local college players at the professional level, but it also gives football fans in the US a chance to take part in our fast-paced game with its unique three-down and no fair catch rules.” Preston Bornman, Executive Vice President of America One added: “Our affiliates and viewers love football as a sport, and having players with a local connection to our market just makes it all the better. We are really excited about having Canadian Football anchor our summer and fall professional sports line-up.” Coverage of Canadian football in the U.S. was arranged by Trajectory Sports & Media Group LLC, which has the international marketing responsibility for Canadian Football. The New York-based company has steadily broadened the distribution of CFL games since partnering with the league in 2004. # # # About the America One Television Network About the Canadian Football League Trajectory Sports and Media Group, LLC e-mail:jleno@infowestgroup.com
